REGINALD PAGE, Second Lieutenant, South Staffordshire Regiment, who was killed in action on July 1st 1916, was the younger son of the late Mr C H Page.  He was born on February 14th 1893, and was at the school from September 1902 to December 1907.  Having gone to work in Canada, he enlisted on the day following the declaration of war, was appointed to the first Canadian contingent, and arrived in England in October 1914.  After a year’s work in the trenches he received a commission in the South Staffordshire Regiment, and fell while leading his platoon in a charge at Gommecourt Wood.  A letter to his mother from the commanding officer said: “I shall miss your boy exceedingly, for his past experience was most useful to me.  He looked after his men so well, inspiring them with confidence and showing a splendid example in leadership.”
