JOSEPH MARK TATTON (1910-1915 : 19), Private in the 2nd Battalion, Honourable Artillery Company, (Infantry Section), was the eldest son of Councillor S Tatton of Heath Town, Wolverhampton.  While at school his good work was shown by his successes in the three stages of the Cambridge Local Examinations and his interest in sport by his being one of the Running VIII that beat Tettenhall College in 1915.  He also did useful service as meteorological recorder.  Having become a student teacher at Holy Trinity School, Heath Town, and passed the London Matriculation examination, he attested as soon as he was 18 and joined the H.A.C in February 1917.  He received his training in London and at Lewisham and was drafted to France last September.  On October 9th, he went into action and was afterwards reported missing.  Though no subsequent report has been received, it is feared that he did not survive the engagement.
