My laptop was stolen last week, so no new

are three worksheets; it will be building up over the coming weeks as I
teach it for the first time with my Year 9 set:
The Three
Estates - A worksheet designed to be used as a 'back to

TES Article: Every Picture Tells a Story
Article by RJT published in the TES Teacher

In the same edition, Becky Hewlitt's article
on History and Numeracy described the the ActiveHistory
Wall Street Crash Simulation
in these terms:
"...We then begin to look
at the Wall Street Crash using a superb interactive activity
from www.activehistory.co.uk.
Pupils choose whether to buy or sell shares or put their money in the bank
as part of a re-enactment of the period. They record their decisions on the
worksheet provided. As they record their gains and losses and keep an eye on
interest rates there is a sense of excitement and competition
over who can amass the biggest fortune. The twist is that they eventually
lose all their money whatever they do".

The ActiveHistory
"Life in the Trenches" Simulation
is described in the following
terms:
"...a
wonderful simulation of life in the trenches...it covers what life was
like for the ordinary soldier - such aspects as food, lice, trench-foot,
censorship and poison gas. There are options to make particular decisions
and terms used are explained. The simulation is well illustrated and will
help pupils to understand what went on in the war and why casualties were so
high" [full
