{"id":778,"date":"2009-08-29T23:56:54","date_gmt":"2009-08-29T20:56:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/activehistory.co.uk\/updates\/?p=778"},"modified":"2009-08-30T00:38:27","modified_gmt":"2009-08-29T21:38:27","slug":"twitter-education-tweetclubsnet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.activehistory.co.uk\/updates\/history-teachers\/twitter-education-tweetclubsnet\/","title":{"rendered":"Using Twitter in Education: Tweetclubs.net"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve just finished work on a new Twitter Application called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tweetclubs.net\">TweetClubs.net<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>It searches Twitter for particular words \/ hashtags being used in Twitter posts.<\/p>\n<p>HOWEVER &#8211; Unlike the standard Twitter Search function, it then organises them so you can see at a glance who has been tweeting about a particular topic, how frequently, and view each person&#8217;s tweets with the click of a button. You can also choose to follow 50 of those people all at once.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How I plan to use it in the classroom<\/strong>: I am hoping to run a residential field trip to the Somme Battlefields next year. I plan to ask students to tweet comments about particular issues during the trip a specific hashtag (e.g. &#8220;#trip2010&#8221;) and then use TweetClubs to quickly read up on the thoughts of each individual student.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How I plan to use it for my own professional development<\/strong>:<br \/>\n(a) I have already set up a couple of TweetClubs which I hope will be useful in helping me to make contact with (and be educated by) fellow teachers who use Twitter:<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/tweetclubs.net\/edchat\">Edchat Tweetclub<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/tweetclubs.net\/teachertuesday\">TeacherTuesday Tweetclub<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tweetclubs.net\/historyteacher\">Historyteacher Tweetclub <\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tweetclubs.net\/hash-edtech\">Edtech Tweetclub<\/a><br \/>\n(b) I envisage TweetClubs could be really useful for monitoring feedback at conferences such as BETT, SFE and so on.<\/p>\n<p>If you have any ideas about how TweetClubs could be developed further, please let me know!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve just finished work on a new Twitter Application called TweetClubs.net.
